    The questions and answers for the 2015 CFOA Football Exam are now available to download.  We hope these documents will be a good study source for preparing for this years exam.  Details on the 2016 exam will be given closer to the release of the test on Arbiter.

    You can find the exam documents in the Helpful Links & Resources page (along with a few prior years tests).  They are also linked to below for your convenience.

    The Area Meeting dates for 2016 have been set.  All area meetings in 2016 will be held at Englewood High School.  With the exception of the field meeting, all meetings will begin at 7pm in the smaller auditorium called "The Venue".  The field meeting will begin at 6pm on the football field.  Here is the list of 2016 Area Meetings.  Those marked with a * will be preceded by a crew chief meeting.

    • Wednesday, August 3 *
    • Tuesday, August 9
    • Wednesday, August 17 - Field Meeting
    • Wednesday, September 7 *
    • Tuesday, September 20
    • Wednesday, October 5 *
    • Tuesday, October 18
    Agendas for these meetings will be posted as soon as they are finalized.  All these dates can also be found on the DFOA website in the 2016 Meetings, Training, and Events page.

    Remember, all officials are required to attend a minimum of 5 Area Meetings.  The Master Clinic DOES NOT count toward this requirement.  Two other opportunities for counting a meeting are as follows:
    • A single Test Study session with your crew.
    • A single approved scrimmage in August.  NOTE: scrimmages in July do NOT count for this requirement.  However, the scrimmage does not have to be a zero-weeks scrimmage to count.


    Failure to meet this requirement will result in a loss of playoff eligibility in 2016, and could impact Varsity eligibility in 2017.  If you know that you may have extenuating circumstances that may hinder your ability to meet this requirement, contact the Area Directors as soon as possible.

    The Denver Area Master Clinic for 2016 will be held on Saturday, July 30 at Englewood High School (Fisher Auditorium).  Note that this information is different than what was issued in a previous message from the CFOA.

    The Master Clinic will begin promptly at 9am.  Prior to the meeting, officials will have the opportunity to run the yearly Physical Fitness qualifier.  Information on that will be given later, though it may be the same as previous years.

    Note that it is required to physically attend a Master Clinic every 2 years.  Also, beginning in 2015, on years that an official does not physically attend a clinic, that official must view an online recording of a clinic instead.

    • If you did NOT physically attend a Master Clinic in 2015, you MUST physically attend one in 2016.
    • If you DID physically attend a Master Clinic in 2015, it is highly recommended you physically attend in 2016 if possible.  If not, you MUST view an online recording of the clinic, and you will be required to physically attend a clinic in 2017.
    • If you physically attend a Master Clinic in another area, it is your responsibility to make sure that information gets recorded.  Contact the DFOA Area Directors AND the Area Director for the area where the clinic you attend is being held.


    Failure to comply with the Master Clinic attendance requirements could will in loss of playoff eligibility in 2016, and could impact Varsity eligibility in 2017.

    The assignors are currently working on the 2016 Varsity Football draw.  Results should be published in Arbiter on June 10, 2016.  Subvarsity games will be published on July 5.

    Dear Fellow Officials,

    It is with a very sad and heavy heart that I pass on this bad news: A dear and close friend and supportive individual of our officiating community passed, Mike Vavra, owner of Coaches Choice, passed away this morning.  Mike was supportive of our association, and he provided us with so much and will be missed by many.  Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.  As I learn of arrangements, I will pass them along.

    The Varsity Draw for the 2016 Football season is coming up this Friday.  Please put your blocks in Arbiter by Thursday evening, May 26.  It is also highly recommended that you send your crew chief a list of your blocks.

    Be sure to block out:

    • Dates unavailable
    • Schools you cannot work


    Getting these blocks in ASAP will help reduce turnbacks and other issues with assigning.

    Top Gun Football is hosting a High School club 7v7 tournament in Denver on Sunday May 22 at All-City Stadium.  They are looking for at least 4 (and at most 6) officials to work the event.  They are not expecting that many teams (4-6), so this will not be an all-day event. The Stadium is currently reserved from 8a-4p, but the schedule will likely be altered (probably only a total of 3 or 4 hours) based on officials' availability, perhaps between 10am-2pm.
     
    The event will pay $100 per official. Interested officials should reach out to:

    While still several months away, we are starting to plan for the annual Golf Fundraiser.  However, several changes are being considered that will hopefully allow it to be better attended and possibly more comprehensive for the membership.

    The 2016 DFOA Casino Night has been set. Like last year, tons of fun and great food! Roulette, Craps, Blackjack and Texas Holdem! Bring your family and friends, help your DFOA and come have a great time!
